Hermes SMS Privacy Policy
This policy applies only to Hermes Personal SMS Agent, a private single-user program operated by Frederick (Ted) Thayer.
Updated August 4, 2026
Information handled
The service handles the authorized sender’s mobile number, SMS message content, timestamps, delivery status, opt-in and opt-out status, agent responses, and operational logs needed to process requests and return replies.
The public information pages do not collect phone numbers and do not provide public enrollment. The sending number is checked against a private allowlist before a message is passed to Hermes.
How information is used
Information is used only to authenticate the authorized user, carry out computer-agent tasks requested by that user, deliver replies, prevent unauthorized access, and troubleshoot reliability or delivery problems.
Hermes does not use SMS information for advertising, lead generation, marketing, or profiling unrelated to operating the service.
SMS consent and sharing
Mobile information, SMS opt-in records, and consent are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Service providers may process information only as needed to operate the requested service. These providers include Twilio for SMS delivery, Tailscale for secure network access, Hermes Agent for task orchestration, and the AI gateway and model provider configured by the operator.
Retention
Message records and operational logs may be retained locally or by service providers for security, troubleshooting, delivery reporting, and account administration. They are kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or as required by law and provider policies.
The authorized user may request deletion of operator-controlled SMS records by emailing ted@feedfilter.com. Provider-controlled records remain subject to each provider’s retention requirements.
Security and access
Access is restricted to one pre-authorized mobile number. The service uses a sender allowlist and validates signed webhook requests before forwarding message content to the computer agent. No security measure is perfect, and the operator cannot guarantee absolute security.
